AXA PPP - Important Information for Patients Insured with AXA
Veincentre have negotiated a fixed package price with AXA PPP for all our procedures. These differ in price from our published self-funding fees, which are fixed cost. Please disregard our self-funding price list.
All our clinics are AXA recognised and below is a list of our clinic provider numbers which you will be asked for when ringing them for any authorisation. Once you have booked your appointment we will be able to give you the provider number of the consultant you are booked in with.
**All appointments at Veincentre are classed as: OUTPATIENT**
AXA will require our clinic name along with both the provider number of the clinic and consultant.
Our Vascular Specialists are either Consultant Interventional Radiologists or Consultant Vascular Surgeons both of whom are authorised to treat you.
How to obtain Authorisation for each Appointment:
Prior to attending for consultation you will require a referral letter from your own doctor (GP). AXA will not authorise a consultation and scan without one. Please let Veincentre know the authorisation number for consultation and your AXA membership number.
Following your consultation, Veincentre will inform you of the treatment code (OPCS) that you need to give to AXA in order for them to authorise treatment. AXA may ask Veincentre to send a clinical report to their Specialist Varicose Vein Team prior to giving authorisation.
Our negotiated fixed package price includes:
- Consultation (Including duplex ultrasound scan)
- EVLA Treatment (Unilateral or Bilateral)
- Follow-up Scan (No treatment)
Please note, your consultant may advise that you undergo Foam Sclerotherapy injections at the same time as EVLA. If you opt to undergo these, you will need to get separate authorisation for these from AXA as it is not usually included in their fixed package price.
Our fixed package with AXA includes one basic follow-up. This follow-up will include a repeat scan to ensure that the EVLA treatment has worked successfully. AXA will NOT pre-authorise you to undergo any follow-up foam sclerotherapy injections at this appointment. Therefore, unfortunately, if you do require foam sclerotherapy injections we will not be able to do these at your initial follow up consultation and you will have to attend on a separate visit for these once AXA have authorised the further treatment.
Alternatively, if you would prefer to undergo these injections at your first follow-up visit to save you returning again, then you can opt to pay for these yourself. The charge for these foam sclerotherapy injections will be £360.
Follow-up Foam Sclerotherapy Injections
In order to get authorisation for Foam Sclerotherapy Injections, AXA may require the consultant’s report from your follow-up which will outline what, if any, further treatment is required and the clinical need for this.
If AXA refuse to authorise an appointment for foam sclerotherapy injections, then unfortunately you will need to pay for all future appointments yourself at our Fixed Cost Prices. Please see our Price List.
If we do not receive the appropriate authorisation code/s prior to your appointment you will be asked to pay in full for the appointment and any treatment undertaken on the day.
Can I have Consultation and Treatment on the Same Day?
Unfortunately, if you wish to pay through your AXA insurance, you cannot attend for Consultation and Treatment on the same day as AXA need to know the exact treatment you require before providing authorisation.
Problems getting Authorisation?
If you have any problems obtaining authorisation, then please call our Head Office on 01782 753 960 with your membership number and we will endeavour to deal with this on your behalf.
