Alison Hammond’s Varicose Vein Treatment Journey
Alison Hammond is known for her confidence and vibrant personality, but for years, a large varicose vein at the back of her leg quietly affected how she felt about herself.
Today, she proudly says her leg is almost completely transformed.
“I had a big varicose vein, but now I’ve had my treatment, I’d say it’s 98% gone.”
Seeing the change has been a huge boost to her confidence and Alison jokes that now the vein has gone, “those shorts are coming out.”
Living With a Varicose Vein for Years
Alison first noticed the vein after a fall. From that moment, it gradually became more noticeable, but because it wasn’t painful, she learned to live with it.
For nearly ten years, she accepted it as something she simply had to put up with.
“I thought, it is what it is, this is me.”
However, the appearance of the vein began to bother her more over time. Despite being a naturally confident person, Alison admits it affected how she felt about her legs and even influenced what she chose to wear.
“I used to change what I wore. I never used to wear shorter skirts.”
Eventually, she reached a turning point.
“I thought, you know what, I’m 50 years old. It’s time to get rid of it.”
Choosing Treatment at VeinCentre
For Alison, the experience at VeinCentre stood out immediately because of the people.
“The people that work here are so friendly, so kind and caring and for me, it’s all about the care.”
She says the level of support she received throughout her treatment made all the difference, adding that she would “one million percent recommend” VeinCentre to others.
She particularly loved seeing the transformation happen before her eyes, watching her leg go from having a noticeable varicose vein to feeling confident in its appearance again.
A Confidence Boost She Didn’t Expect
Although Alison had made peace with living with the vein, the results surprised her emotionally as much as physically.
“I feel 10 years younger now that it’s gone.”
She explains that she hadn’t realised just how much it had affected her confidence until it was no longer there.
“I’d just made peace with the fact that this was me, but it’s not. It’s gone now, and I feel so, so happy.”
Alison’s Advice to Others
Alison has a clear message for anyone feeling unsure about seeking treatment:
“If you feel nervous about coming, you don’t need to. The staff are incredible. If it bothers you, whether cosmetically or because of pain, get rid of it. You’ll feel so much better in yourself.”
