CAN VULVAL VEINS BE TREATED WITH EVLA?
No, vulval varicose veins are a different cause. They are caused by valve failure within the veins of the pelvis and in the veins that drain the ovaries. The treatment for this is different. It uses x-ray movie equipment to guide a special catheter into the vein that drains the ovary or in the pelvis. This is, as far as the patients go, quite a quick and simple procedure to have done, it takes about half an hour, however it involves the use of expensive fixed x-ray equipment which would only be available in hospitals rather than outpatient clinics. So, if we’re going to do this procedure we’d use a local private hospital.
