Varicose veins are a common problem, affecting up to 1 in 3 adults in their lifetime. They are usually a sign of an underlying venous insufficiency.
Thread veins can appear anywhere on the body but are mostly evidenced on the legs and face. They are more common than varicose veins, affecting up to 80% of adults.

Now pain-free, sleeping soundly, and confidently wearing shorts in the sunshine, Kim’s only regret is not getting treatment sooner. Just days after her procedure, she was back to running, and the varicose veins that once caused constant discomfort were gone. She’s finally free from the aching, swelling, and self-consciousness that held her back.
For a long time, Kim had been putting off treatment for her varicose veins. The problem gradually worsened and became increasingly uncomfortable. In warmer weather, her legs would swell – made worse by her reluctance to wear skirts and shorts due to the visible veins. Running, something she loved, also began to suffer over time.
“I’d mistake the pain of my varicose veins for a calf strain after running, but it was because of my veins!”
It didn’t stop there. Kim also struggled with restless legs at night, which made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Alongside the physical pain was a growing self-consciousness as her varicose veins worsened. Eventually, the constant aching, swelling, and impact on her day-to-day life pushed her to take the leap and seek treatment.
Kim was initially nervous, but that quickly changed after her consultation at Veincentre.
“From the consultation, Dr Ananth explained everything in detail and put me at ease straight away,” she said.
During her consultation appointment, Kim met her dedicated consultant, who performed a thorough scan on her legs to determine the root cause of her vein issues. She decided to go ahead with her recommended treatment: EVLA and Foam Sclerotherapy.
On the day of her procedure, any lingering nerves were eased by the supportive team.
“Dr Ananth talked me through what he was doing and showed me what was on the ultrasound screen. Nurse Diana was amazing – they both chatted to me throughout and made sure I was comfortable. The treatment itself was almost pain-free!”
After a couple of days of rest and gentle walks, Kim was back to running. The aching, restless legs that had once bothered her were gone, and the varicose veins disappeared almost immediately.
“It was an amazing feeling, and I was so happy that I had finally taken the plunge after so many years of trying to pluck up the courage.”
Beyond the physical relief, the treatment brought a huge boost to Kim’s confidence. After years of hiding her legs and feeling uncomfortable in her own skin, she finally feels free from the weight of her varicose veins.
“I am so happy with the results. I am now pain free and no longer conscious of what my legs look like. I’m permanently in shorts in this lovely weather. No more restless legs at night and no more constantly aching!
I would really recommend Veincentre – it’s so easy and pain free!”
