What is the difference between spider veins and thread veins?

What is the difference between spider veins and thread veins?

There is no difference between spider veins and thread veins – they’re simply two terms used to describe the same condition. Both refer to small, fine red, purple, or blue veins that appear just under the surface of the skin, most commonly on the legs or face. Medically known as telangiectasia, these veins are usually harmless, though some people choose to treat them for comfort or cosmetic reasons.

If you’re unsure whether you’re dealing with thread or spider veins, or something more complex like varicose veins, it’s always a good idea to speak with one of our expert vascular consultants.
