Dr Richard Guinness is the Lead Interventional Radiologist at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. He has been a Interventional Radiology consultant in Exeter since 2008.

He trained in medicine at Guy’s and Thomas’ Medical School (London University).

After completion of basic surgical training (MRCS) he specialised in Radiology (FRCR) completing specialist training in Interventional Radiology (IR) 2007. Following this he completed a Fellowship in IR at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.

He is now the lead IR in Exeter and a trainer in the South-West IR training scheme.

Dr Guinness works at Veincentre on the above day. If you book an initial consultation with Dr Guinness, all your future appointments will be with Dr Guinness in Exeter throughout your treatment journey. As such, it is important to note that if you opt to go ahead with treatment this will be undertaken with Dr Guinness on the day above (as will all future follow-up appointments).

Occasionally Dr Guinness may open up a list on another day, especially during our busy periods, however we cannot guarantee appointment dates on any other day than a Tuesday even if a previous appointment was on a different day. If you are unable to attend one of Dr Guinness’ dates and hence wish to switch consultants, you will need to attend and pay for a new consultation with another consultant prior to any treatment being undertaken. Please take care when choosing which consultant/ date to book.

Please note that due to holidays Dr Guinness may not be available every Tuesday.
