Dr Nigel Hacking first qualified in Medicine in 1980 from the Middlesex Hospital medical School. After obtaining the MRCP qualification he then underwent his Radiology Training at the Southampton University Hospitals. He was one of the first 3 junior doctors to join the BSIR at its instigation in 1990 and then took up a Consultant post in Southampton in 1991. An extensive Vascular and Non-Vascular Interventional Radiology practice was then developed within the NHS. Dr Nigel Hacking pioneered many advances in Interventional Radiology throughout the 1990’s. He developed a TIPS (Trans jugular Intra Hepatic Shunt) service as well as developing and leading one of the busiest Interventional Oncology group practices in the UK treating many liver, kidney and other tumours with embolisation before expanding the Southampton University Hospital services to add in thermal ablation techniques (Radiofrequency, Microwave ablation as well as Cryoablation) include professional summary; education, qualifications, employment history and a personal biography.
Dr Nigel Hacking retired from the NHS in 2020 to concentrate on his prostate and fibroid embolisation practices in UK and overseas as well as further developing his vascular skills in the venous system.
If you book an initial consultation with Dr Hacking, all your future appointments will be with Dr Hacking.
Occasionally Dr Hacking may open up a list on another day, especially during our busy periods, however, we cannot guarantee appointment dates on every weekday even if a previous appointment was on a different weekday.
If you are unable to attend one of Dr Hacking’s dates and hence wish to switch consultants, you will need to attend and pay for a new consultation with the other consultant prior to any treatment being undertaken. Please take care when choosing which consultant/ date to book.
