Profile
Dr Dhiraj Joshi is a Consultant Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust with over 25 years of medical experience since qualifying in 1998. He has extensive expertise in vascular imaging, minimally invasive image-guided procedures, and the diagnosis and treatment of venous disease.
Before specialising in radiology, Dr Joshi underwent surgical training in general & vascular surgery at leading UK centres, including the Royal Free Hospital, Manchester Royal Infirmary and Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham. During this time, he performed conventional surgical varicose vein operations and gained significant experience in the assessment and management of chronic venous disorders, recurrent varicose veins and venous ulceration.
Dr Joshi combines his surgical background with advanced expertise in venous duplex ultrasound, CT and MR venography, and modern minimally invasive venous interventions. His experience includes the treatment of superficial venous reflux, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), venous obstruction, thrombectomy and venous stenting, enabling him to provide comprehensive assessment and tailored treatment plans for patients with venous conditions.
He is on the GMC specialist Register and passed fellowship exam of the Royal College of Radiologists in 2016. He holds an MD (Research) degree from University College London, and has published extensively in the fields of vascular surgery and interventional radiology. Dr Joshi remains actively involved in research, innovation and medical education, regularly delivering specialist training workshops for clinicians from the UK and overseas.
