Profile
Dr Kate Steiner trained at the Royal Free Hospital and qualified in 1999. She completed her radiology training including a fellowship in interventional radiology at the Royal Free Hospital. In 2015 she became full time at the Lister Hospital to develop interventional radiology services further, disseminating her skills and knowledge from working in a large tertiary referral centre to a large district general hospital. She left ENH in June 2025 take up a consultant interventional radiology post at University Hospitals Sussex ENH in order to return to a larger teaching hospital environment where she can pursue her research interests further. UHS is a large tertiary referral centre for vascular disease and a major trauma center. She has had a number of managerial roles which have involved strategic planning and transforming services at a regional level.
She has a subspeciality interest in dialysis access intervention. She has been on the council for the Vascular Access Society of Britain and Ireland since 2017 and Treasurer for the society since 2022. The mission of the society is to improve the quality of vascular access provision which will lead to improved care and quality of life for patients requiring haemodialysis.
Since 2023 she has been an Executive Board member for the Charing Cross International Vascular Symposium. She co-chairs and works with the team developing the programme for the Vascular Access Masterclass and workshops. She keeps up to date with cutting edge technology in vascular access and vascular intervention. The symposium showcases the latest evidence in vascular intervention including podium first trial results which help improve our management of vascular patients.
She is frequently invited to chair and present her work at national and international meetings and has published her work in peer reviewed journals She is familiar with introducing new procedures and using new technology to benefit patients. She led a successful endo-AVF programme at ENH.
She is a research active clinician and has been principal investigator for national and international research studies. She has also been a Chief Investigator for an investigator led clinical study. She is invited to sit on trial steering committees and is a co-investigator for the PAVE 2 clinical study. She maintains and active research portfolio.
When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her family. She is a keen equestrian and competes in dressage and working equitation.
She also has an interest in art and has exhibited and sold her work in the past.
