Profile
Dr Bonnici-Mallia is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist with over a decade of experience performing minimally invasive “pinhole” image-guided procedures. He completed specialist training in Clinical and Interventional Radiology in Dundee and Edinburgh. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR), holds the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) certification, and is on the Specialist Register for Clinical Radiology with the General Medical Council.
Alongside his private practice, he works within the NHS at both major tertiary hospitals in Bristol — Southmead Hospital and the Bristol Royal Infirmary — where he maintains a high-volume interventional practice treating complex vascular conditions and cancer using advanced image-guided techniques. He is also actively involved in multiple clinical research trials exploring new minimally invasive treatments and technologies.
As both a diagnostic and interventional radiologist, he has extensive expertise in medical imaging and ultrasound assessment, allowing precise diagnosis and highly targeted minimally invasive treatment of vascular disease. He places strong emphasis on careful assessment to ensure treatment is tailored to each patient.
Dr Bonnici-Mallia also serves as a Medical Officer in the British Army, reflecting a strong professional commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care. Outside medicine, he has a strong sporting background, having previously trained and competed internationally in U21 Rugby Union. He now enjoys playing guitar, hillwalking and spending time with his family.”
