Varicose veins are a common problem, affecting up to 1 in 3 adults in their lifetime. They are usually a sign of an underlying venous insufficiency.
Thread veins can appear anywhere on the body but are mostly evidenced on the legs and face. They are more common than varicose veins, affecting up to 80% of adults.
Leg ulcers appear as broken skin in the lower leg or feet. We have been successfully treating venous leg ulcers for over 20 years.

Dr Neil Prasad qualified from the University of Manchester in 2008 and after basic medical training in the north west, began Clinical Radiology training in Sheffield in 2012. During the latter half of this 6 year programme, he sub-specialised in Interventional Radiology. He has worked at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust as a Consultant Interventional Radiologist since then and took up the post of Head of Service for this department in 2021.
He performs a wide range of procedures in this role which are mostly focused on vascular (blood vessel) and hepatobiliary (liver) interventions. Nottingham is one of the busiest major trauma and vascular surgery centres in the UK.
Outside of work, he is a keen cyclist when he gets the chance! Otherwise, he is the husband of a fabulous GP and proud father of two amazing young girls.
Dr Prasad works at Veincentre Leicester on a Wednesday. If you book an initial consultation with Dr Prasad, all your future appointments will be with Dr Prasad throughout your treatment journey. As such, it is important to note that if you opt to go ahead with treatment this will be undertaken with Dr Prasad on a Wednesday (as will all future follow-up appointments).
Occasionally Dr Prasad may open up a list on another day, especially during our busy periods, however we cannot guarantee appointment dates on any other day than a Wednesday even if a previous appointment was on a different day. If you are unable to attend one of Dr Prasad’s dates and hence wish to switch consultants, you will need to attend and pay for a new consultation with another consultant prior to any treatment being undertaken. Please take care when choosing which consultant/date to book.
Please note that due to holidays Dr Prasad may not be available every Wednesday.
