Dr Peter Littler is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist based at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle and was elected Secretary of the British Society of Interventional Radiology (BSIR) in 2025.
Dr Littler qualified at the University of Liverpool in 1999, training across a range of medical specialities before specialising in Radiology and Interventional Radiology. Dr Littler was appointed Interventional Radiology Consultant at University Hospital Aintree in 2009. Dr Littler and his family relocated to the North-East a few years later, allowing him to join the Interventional Radiology team at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, where he has worked as a consultant since 2012.
Dr Littler specialises in minimally invasive interventional radiology techniques including embolisation and image guided ablation, delivering interventional radiology care across a range of specialties, including oncology, and lecturing widely nationally and internationally.
He has held numerous local positions, including as Head of Radiology at the Freeman Hospital, Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Newcastle and helping to train future interventional radiologists as the Specialist Advisor to the Northern School of Radiology.
Dr Littler is enthusiastic about education and has held national positions including Chair of Interventional Oncology UK (IOUK), Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee of the BSIR and Treasurer of the Vascular Access Society of Britain and Ireland (VASBI).
When not at work, he enjoys spending time in Northumberland with his family, pets and beloved cars.
