Colin Weir is a General and Vascular Surgeon. He qualified from Queen’s University Belfast and trained in Northern Ireland including a travelling scholarship to Philadelphia.

He has over 25 years experience in treating varicose veins of all types in NHS and private practice. He has previously worked as a full time consultant in Northern Ireland but now works part time in the NHS and in private practice in Belfast and England.

His NHS roles have included Regional Surgical Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, National Surgical representative on the steering committee of the UK Advanced Trauma Life Support Course, Clinical Director for Surgery, Director Medical education and Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Surgery for Queen’s University, Belfast.

He was runner up in the Silver Scalpel Award for UK surgical trainer of the year, he is a fellow of The Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England and a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers.

He is a member of the British Association of Sclerotherapists, having previously been a board member. He has been at the forefront of introducing endovenous laser and foam sclerotherapy techniques in Northern Ireland with many years experience of these and minimally invasive surgical procedures when needed.

In his spare time he enjoys travel, regularly visiting his 3 children in England, learning Italian slowly, and trying to keep up with an acre of mature garden in the heart of the Orchard County in Armagh.

If you see Mr Weir you can only attend an appointment with him on a Tuesday in Woking.

Occasionally Mr Weir may open up a list on another day, especially during our busy periods, however, we cannot guarantee appointment dates on every weekday even if a previous appointment was on a different weekday.

If you are unable to attend one of Mr Weir’s dates and hence wish to switch consultants, you will need to attend and pay for a new consultation with the other consultant prior to any treatment being undertaken. Please take care when choosing which consultant/date to book.

Please note that due to holidays Mr Weir may not be available every week.
