Mr Colin Weir

Mr Colin Weir is a General and Vascular Surgeon. He qualified from Queen’s University Belfast and trained in Northern Ireland including a travelling scholarship to Philadelphia.

He has over 25 years experience in treating varicose veins of all types in NHS and private practice. He has previously worked as a full time consultant in Northern Ireland but now works part time in the NHS and in private practice in Belfast and England.

Mr Weir’s NHS roles have included Regional Surgical Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, National Surgical representative on the steering committee of the UK Advanced Trauma Life Support Course, Clinical Director for Surgery, Director Medical education and Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Surgery for Queen’s University, Belfast.

He was runner up in the Silver Scalpel Award for UK surgical trainer of the year, he is a fellow of The Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England and a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers.

He is a member of the British Association of Sclerotherapists, having previously been a board member. He has been at the forefront of introducing endovenous laser and foam sclerotherapy techniques in Northern Ireland with many years experience of these and minimally invasive surgical procedures when needed.
