Before doing his CIMA training at Phones4U, Phil left Lancaster University with a 2:1 in Business Studies. His time at Phones4U was spent in the MI department where he developed his trade in building quality, automated and well designed MI suites. Thereafter, he moved through a number of roles in small and large businesses developing the MI and FPNA functions of those businesses.
In 2014, Phil moved to Fragrance Direct, a £14m online business, as their Financial Controller (and subsequently Finance Director). He oversaw the development of the finance function from 1 head to 5 and implemented MI, FPNA and Financial Control functions in the business. Essentially, setting up and developing the finance function. During his 7 years there, Fragrance Direct grew from £14m turnover to £60m+. Subsequently he saw the business through a PE sale.
In 2021, Phil moved to Veincentre in order to repeat a similar journey seen at Fragrance Direct. He is currently building out the finance function to support a similar revenue and profit growth journey as that seen in Fragrance Direct.
Outside of work, Phil is learning to fly Microlights, is a keen piano player and a family man.
